The working group “Test laboratories, simulators and data security” focuses on the safety and security of networked medical devices and their testing.
Interoperable and manufacturer-independent networked systems of medical devices present completely new challenges in the field of safety, whereby both safety and security requirements must be considered here. Consequently, these aspects must also be able to be tested. SMEs with only a small number of different medical devices in their portfolio are typically not able to maintain a test field with a sufficiently large number and heterogeneity of other medical devices as networking partners. Therefore, the OR.NET e.V. initiated the MoVE project, for example, which designed and implemented a reference test platform. Medical device simulators, which represent standard-compliant reference implementation as communication partners in the course of the test execution, are decisive for the realization.
The OR.NET e.V. aims to provide a test laboratory through this working group. This should enable SMEs in particular to carry out tests in a networked medical device ensemble during the entire development process in order to guarantee aspects of patient and data security. In addition to the use of the test laboratory on site, the test laboratory should also be accessible via a VPN tunnel.
