On 8 April 2026, the OR.NET Association will host an SDC information day at the University Hospital Essen, in the Teaching and Learning Centre of the Medical Faculty at the University of Duisburg-Essen. On the same day, the manufacturers of the medical devices will also offer training on their products to ICU clinical users (nurses and physicians) in the training rooms of the same building.

The aim of the event is to inform clinical users about cross-manufacturer networking in operating rooms and clinics using the ISO IEEE 11073 SDC communication standard. There will be lectures and hands-on sessions at the demonstrators/workstations. Only demonstrators with clinical relevance will be presented on this day.

These demonstrators will be set up in front of the large lecture hall in the ‘Deichmann Auditorium’, and lectures on the topic of SDC will be offered in the lecture room next door throughout the day.

The OR.NET Association would like to invite you to showcase your work with clinical relevance at the SDC Information Day in front of users from Essen University Hospital, BG Clinics and other guests from surrounding clinics. You are also welcome to participate by giving a presentation on SDC.

The SDC Info Day will be divided into two parts:
In the morning, we will provide information to clinic managers. Clinic management will focus on upcoming tenders, technical implementation and strategic purchasing direction.

In the afternoon and evening, we will welcome users from the operating theatre and intensive care unit. They will certainly be interested in the advantages and applications of SDC in their daily routine.
