Vector Medical Engineering Symposium 2026: Focus on SDC

How can medical devices be networked securely, efficiently, and in a standards-based manner? What role do open communication standards play in the development of software-defined medical devices?

The Vector Medical Engineering Symposium 2026 brings together experts from medical technology, research, development, clinical practice, and management. The focus is on current trends and practical solutions for medical embedded systems and software-defined medical devices.
Auf einen Blick:

  • 📌  What: Vector Medical Engineering Symposium 2026
  • 📅  When: October 14–15, 2026
  • 📍  Where: Vector Campus, Karlsruhe
  • 🌐  Event language: English
  • 👥  Target audience: Specialists and executives from the medical technology, research, development, clinical, and management sectors

A special focus will be on the SDC ecosystem and the question of how interoperable medical systems can be developed, tested, and implemented in practice based on the IEEE 11073 SDC standards. In doing so, the symposium addresses key topics of the OR.NET community: the open networking of medical devices, standardized communication, and future-proof digital infrastructures in hospitals.
The workshop “Developing Medical Devices in the SDC Ecosystem – A Test-Driven Approach” is specifically dedicated to test-driven development in the SDC context. Workshop space is limited.
The symposium thus offers an opportunity to learn about current technical developments, discuss concrete approaches for practical application, and exchange ideas with experts on the future of interoperable medical technology.
